When you start thinking about doing your family photos outdoors in the OKC area there are so many different locations you can choose from! And especially in the fall the Oklahoma City area boasts many beautiful settings.
As an OKC family photographer that specializes in family photo sessions that are lifestyle and documentary in nature I have several different things I look for in a location for a full family session. I want there to be variety so that families can laugh, play and run together. I am looking for some beautiful backdrops for some of the classic or what I call “fridge portraits”. These are the ones of everyone looking at the camera.
I also ask families for suggestions on locations that are meaningful to them. If there is any area that they spend a lot of time in I will also look to see if that area would be a good fit.
Fall Family Photo Session at Lake Hefner
Lake Hefner in NW Oklahoma City is a huge favorite location for families and photographers alike. You can have so much variety in a family session! From grassy open fields, to lots of trees, white gravel roads and a beach to explore there is quite a bit for a family to do. Hey you can even pop over to a playground or stop by the lighthouse (although that frequently has quite a few people there.)
This sweet family was a delight to photograph at Lake Hefner this fall! It was a chilly evening as a fall cold front started to move in but they were champs and we had so much fun together. Lifestyle photo sessions allow for so much personality in families to come out as well as let the love and connection really shine!
