Newborn sessions at home fill me with so much joy and cozy feelings and this winter lifestyle newborn session brought an extra level of coziness! As an Oklahoma City newborn photographer, I seriously get giddy whenever I get an inquiry for a newborn session. It makes me happy that I can document and celebrate life by serving families in such a beautiful new season of their lives!

This precious little one was a doll during the photo session. As I work with my families I try to get a variety of different photos and settings. This lovely home made that easy for this winter newborn lifestyle session.

I am excited to also be participating in a blog circle this month and linking to another photographer who shares such an important article about the value and importance of investing in high quality prints.

I consider myself a “baby-led” newborn photographer which means I let baby take the lead in how I interact during the session.

If baby is only happy in Mama & Daddy’s arms then that is quite okay. No need for parents to stress! If baby needs to cluster feed during the session that’s not a problem. If baby doesn’t sleep that is not an issue. This allows everyone to relax and be cozy.

I love how this approach allows for everyone to be at ease during the session. I don’t have to get frustrated or worried if baby won’t corporate with not being held because I firmly believe that being safe in their parent’s arms is the best place for a little one. I love to get images of baby alone but we can do those on a bed or in their parent’s arms.

I love how it allows for parents to relax and not feel pressured that they or their baby has to perform a certain way. And of course relaxed parents means for a more relaxed baby. 🙂

By taking a baby-led approach I get to capture the true story of who your family is. We are not contorting baby to a certain shape but rather letting freedom for baby to stretch, sleep and be held as needed.
